On September 2nd, 2009, Nokia released a brand new breed of portable device. The Nokia Booklet 3G is a mini laptop PC. The release of the Booklet 3G means a new direction for Nokia, however this release will not affect the entire mobile community. Apple has the MacBooks, Sony Ericsson has the Sony Vaio. It was only a matter of time for Nokia to introduce some products in the notebook industry. The new Nokia Booklet 3G will be a Windows - based machine. The offered operating system on the notebook will be Windows 7 Starter Edition. It will also have included a 60 day trial for MS Office Small Business, MS Internet Explorer 8, HDD protection utility, Hotkey utility, Knock Control Utility, Power Profile Switcher and Battery Life Utility. Other software features that are coming with the notebook: Nokia Update Manager, Ovi Suite, Ovi Maps Gadget, Social Hub and F-Secure Internet Security 2010 trial.

Nokia has managed to pull a trick with the Booklet 3G. They have given it a very unique image. Therefore Nokia's notebook has already made all the headlines around the globe. The Booklet 3G stands really closely to what the other manufacturers have to offer (Apple, Dell and Sony). From the design point of view the Booklet is flawless. Sleek, a stylish, premium design with a chassis made from a single piece of aluminum. It's not the most portable notebook on the market but its keyboard makes up for that. Three different colors are available, black, ice (white) and azure (blue). The dimensions are common, 264 x 185 x 19.9 mm with a weight of 1250 g.

The Booklet 3G boasts a good 10.1" display, with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and glass window. It equipped with Intel Atom Z530, 1.6 GHz CPU and has a random access memory of 1 GB DDR 2, 533 MHz. The hard drive has a storage capacity of 120 GB, 1.8" / 5 mmH / SATA, 8MB cache, 4200 RPM. The connectivity department is ensured by WLAN (WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, 2T2R), Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and inbuilt 3G modem (data calls only). Different variants: WCDMA 850 / 1900 / 2100 or WCDMA 900 / 2100 or no modem. All modem variants have GSM and GPRS.

Regarding the battery specs, Nokia only specified the model (16 cell, 56.8 Wh, Li-Ion prismatic, removable design). The battery should resist 12 hours on a single charge.

The Nokia Booklet 3G has a 1.3 MP front facing camera with integrated microphone. The Inbox Content is not that great: Nokia Booklet 3G, BC - 1S battery, AC / DC power adapter, instructions, Headset WH - 205, USB charging multi - cable CA - 126. So be prepared in paying extra money for a notebook carrying case, global charging kit, spare charger, USB to VGA adapter, Ethernet adapter and HDMI to DVI adapter.
